Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager to lead and grow our engineering teams. In this role, you’ll oversee the development and maintenance of our key platforms, including mobile apps and backend services, while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers working across frontend, backend, and DevOps.
- Technical Oversight: Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and architecture, leveraging our tech stack including TypeScript, Node.js, React Native, and Flutter.
- Project Management: Collaborate with product managers to prioritize and deliver features, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Architecture & Scalability: Drive decisions around system architecture, performance optimizations, and scalability to support our growing user base.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders such as designers, data analysts, and health professionals to align technical execution with business goals.
- DevOps Strategy: Oversee CI/CD pipelines and ensure reliable deployments using tools like Codemagic.
- Technical Mentorship: Foster a learning culture through code reviews, technical discussions, and hands-on support.
Required Skills & Experience
- Technical Expertise:
– Frontend: Proficient with React Native (TypeScript) and/or Flutter (Dart).
– Backend: Strong knowledge of Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Nginx.
– DevOps: Familiarity with tools like Codemagic for CI/CD, and VPN solutions like WireGuard.
– State Management: Experience with Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or Riverpod. - Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead engineering teams, manage projects, and deliver results.
- Communication: Excellent ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You can effectively communicate and document ideas through high-quality written documentation.
- Testing & QA: Familiarity with tools like Jest, Detox, or Flutter’s native test suite.
- Monitoring & Analytics: Knowledge of Sentry, Amplitude, and Mixpanel for tracking app performance and user behavior.
- Language: Working proficiency in English, German is a strong plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in digital health or similar regulated industries.
- Familiarity with GDPR and handling sensitive user data securely.
- Knowledge of Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications.
- 5+ years experience in software engineering and 1+ years experience in a leadership role
